College Access
Culturally Rooted College Pathways for First‑Gen American Students of African Heritage 🌍
The African Diaspora College Access Program (ADC)—a federally recognized 501(c)(3) based in Washington, DC—is the only nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to supporting high school students of African heritage (or descent). What sets ADC apart is our culturally responsive college-access curriculum designed to uplift high-achieving often low-income students from immigrant families and low-exposure educational backgrounds.
🔹 Culturally Sensitive Curriculum & College Preparation
We guide students through every phase of college access—from shining up academic credentials and crafting standout application packages to securing admission and preparing for success at four-year colleges and universities.
🔹 Serving First-Generation Scholars in the DMV
Our participants are predominantly first-generation college students in the Washington, DC area who lack family experience with U.S. higher education. We fill that critical gap by offering meaningful support during this pivotal transition.
🔹 A Mission for Competitive Placement & Long-Term Success
Our primary goal is to empower students to gain admission to top-tier independent colleges. Through personalized mentorship, interdisciplinary learning, and staff expertise, we equip scholars with the tools needed not just to enroll—but to thrive throughout their college journey.
🔹 Continuous Engagement & Alumni Community
Success isn’t just about college entry—it’s about persistence. That’s why we maintain ongoing relationships with our scholars, helping them stay on track in school and flourish post-admission
